Description
Dry wheat bran is used as an ingredient in substrates.
The sawdust, chips, and bran are usually mixed together, moistened, pasteurized, and then compressed into a growing block.
Most gourmet and medicinal mushrooms grow best on supplemented hardwood sawdust. This includes Reishi, Lions Mane, Maitake, Shiitake, and Oysters.
Wheat bran is commonly used as an ingredient in substrates of wood-loving mushroom species.
Hardwoods such as alder, balsa, beech, hickory, mahogany, maple, oak, teak, and walnut make for a great substrate for many types of mushrooms.
The good ratio is 1kg of sawdust, 250g of wheat bran, and 1.6L of water.
For wood-loving mushrooms use Hardwood Sawdust combined with a bran supplement.
